PROJECTS

Metro of Panama, Line 2

CLIENT El Metro de Panama

Location Panama City, Panama

Shannon & Wilson performed the geotechnical characterization for the design-build construction of a 21-kilometer-long rail line for the Metro de Panama, S.A. project.

The Line 2 construction consists of an elevated viaduct and 16 stations that run between San Miguelito and Nuevo Tocumen in Panama City.

Shannon & Wilson provided the geotechnical analysis for the 2.25-meter-diameter shafts along the viaduct and stations. Our team performed more than 900 borings and corresponding laboratory tests that included soils and rock testing. We used the gINT database to present the boring logs and laboratory tests, as well as to data mine the results for analysis.  We also prepared geologic profiles for the viaduct and the stations, as well as geotechnical reports with seismic site class, shaft axial capacity and lateral load resistance parameters for each viaduct segment and for each station.
